Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria’s North-West, neutralizing two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovering a cache of weapons in Kebbi State.
The operation was carried out on Friday, in the Sabarumawa axis of Kebbi State by troops of Sector Two of the Joint Task Force North-West, following credible intelligence that terrorists were planning an attack on the community.
According to a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion Seven swiftly moved into the area and laid a tactical ambush along the terrorists’ suspected route.
As the suspects advanced, troops engaged them in a fierce gun battle. Two of the terrorists were killed, while others fled into the surrounding forest under heavy military fire.
A follow-up search of the area led to the recovery of several weapons and operational items, including AK-47 rifles, magazines, one hundred and forty-three rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA says it remains committed to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist and criminal groups across the North-West to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The military however has called on the public to continue to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
