The Nigerian Navy, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has intensified efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking with a successful joint operation that disrupted drug distribution activities across parts of Warri, Delta State.

The operation, carried out by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA alongside NDLEA operatives, targeted suspected drug hotspots in the Urchie, Uvwiamuge, Orthokpor and Usiefrun areas of Warri.

During the coordinated raids, security operatives arrested one suspect and recovered a quantity of illicit substances, including Molly, cannabis and Skuruchi, in what authorities described as a major setback for the local drug distribution network.

According to the Nigerian Navy, the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to sanitize its area of operation and deny criminal elements the freedom to traffic and distribute illegal drugs.

The Navy said the success of the operation highlights the growing collaboration between it and the NDLEA in tackling the link between illicit drug trafficking and other criminal activities that threaten public safety and national security.

It reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency cooperation and sustaining intelligence-led operations to deny criminal elements the space to engage in activities that undermine peace, security and legitimate economic activities within its area of responsibility.
