Nigeria’s anti-drug war is intensifying as operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) record multiple arrests and major seizures across the country.
In Ogun State, three suspects Azeez Sanni, Olayinka Oke, and Adekunle Adeyemi were arrested at Sango Ota with 34kg of skunk.
While in Imo State, a 26-year-old female suspect, Ayoka Akinwale, was intercepted along the Onitsha-Owerri road with 56.2kg of skunk.
Additionally, in Niger State a couple, Abdullahi Umar (32) and his wife Adama Umar (25), were arrested after 118kg of skunk was discovered hidden in their kitchen.
Also during a major bust, NDLEA officers intercepted a trailer carrying vehicle spare parts coming from Nnewi, Anambra state, by NDLEA officers on patrol at Njimtilo along Damaturu-Maiduguri road, Borno state and uncovered 42,290 tablets of Rohypnol, 82,700ml of codeine syrup , 10,000ml of Pentazocine injection and the owner of the consignment Eleje Ibeabuchi, 43, was arrested in a follow-up operation.
From highways to homes, the scale of these seizures reveals how deeply drug trafficking networks are embedded across Nigeria. NDLEA says it will continue intelligence-led operations to choke supply and protect communities.
