Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics network in Borno State, arresting six suspects and recovering a large cache of materials believed to have been destined for terrorist groups operating in Nigeria’s North-East.
The intelligence-led operation, carried out by troops of Sector 1 at about 4:00 p.m. on July 19, followed credible intelligence on a suspected terrorist supply route. Security forces mounted a covert stop-and-search operation, leading to the interception of five vehicles transporting supplies allegedly meant for terrorist elements.
Among the items recovered were 202 cartons of herbicides, a Starlink satellite internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertilizer, a jerrycan containing suspected acid, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.
Military authorities said preliminary assessments indicate that several of the recovered items have dual-use potential, meaning they could be used for legitimate purposes or exploited to support terrorist logistics, communications, mobility and sustainment.
According to Operation HADIN KAI, the NPK fertilizer and suspected acid will undergo forensic analysis to determine whether they were intended for the production of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The military described the operation as a significant blow to terrorist logistics, noting that disrupting supply chains remains central to weakening insurgent operations in the North-East.
The six suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation. Authorities say the probe is aimed at identifying the intended recipients of the supplies, dismantling the wider logistics network and apprehending other collaborators and sponsors.
The military also disclosed that intelligence gathered from rescued hostages and surrendered families of former terrorists suggests that sustained pressure on supply networks has severely weakened insurgent groups. According to the debriefings, shortages of food, medical supplies, communications equipment and other essential materials have forced many terrorists to abandon their camps, leave behind hostages and family members, and flee advancing troops.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist support networks through intelligence-driven operations targeting insurgents, financiers, logistics suppliers, informants and collaborators.
The military urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons, movements and activities, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
