Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a shocking drug smuggling attempt at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The NDLEA intercepted 12 large parcels of cocaine hidden inside food flasks, bound for the United Kingdom on a Virgin Atlantic flight. The drugs weighed 2.8 kilograms.
According to a statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy NDLEA Headquarters Abuja , Femi Babafemi, three suspects have been arrested: Ama Obinna Ufeim (33) and Ogabi Monday Akorede (39), both cargo agents, as well as Agoro Tajudeen Moninuola (52), identified as the sender of the consignment.
The NDLEA says the operation underscores efforts to protect the public from the dangers of illicit drugs, which fuel crime and threaten lives and increased vigilance is helping to stop traffickers in their tracks.
