309kg Cannabis-Infused Cookies, Gummies Intercepted at Lagos Port, Suspect Arrested

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies, have intercepted 309.4 kilogrammes of cannabis-infused cookies and gummies at the Tincan Port Complex in Lagos.

The illicit consignment, comprising 73 cartons containing 442 packets of cannabis-infused cookies and gummies, was discovered during a joint examination of a 40-foot container on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

The NDLEA in a statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy NDLEA Headquarters Femi Babafemi , a suspect, identified as Larry Nnaji, has been arrested in connection with the seizure.

The interception forms part of ongoing efforts by the agency and other security agencies to prevent the smuggling and distribution of illicit drugs through Nigeria’s ports.

NDLEA said investigations into the seizure and the suspect’s alleged involvement are ongoing.
