Security forces under Operation ENDURING PEACE have recorded a breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping, rescuing a victim and recovering eight million naira paid as ransom in Plateau State.
The operation, carried out on Saturday, 25th April 2026, took place in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, following intelligence-led efforts by troops deployed in Sector 9, Shendam.
According to the Media Information Officer
Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh,
the case began on 19th April 2026, when a woman was abducted in the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area.
Acting on sustained intelligence gathering and the confession of a previously arrested suspect, troops tracked the victim to a forest hideout in Padam, Qua’an Pan LGA, where she was successfully rescued.
A key outcome of the operation was the recovery of ₦8 million naira, which had earlier been paid by the victim’s family as ransom to the kidnappers. The money has since been returned to the family.
Following her rescue, the victim was taken to the General Hospital in Shendam for medical examination and has been reunited with her family in safe condition.
The Nigerian Military says follow-up operations are ongoing to dismantle the kidnapping network and arrest other members of the syndicate believed to be operating within Shendam and Qua’an Pan axis.
Operation ENDURING PEACE also commended residents for supporting security efforts and urged continued timely intelligence sharing, stressing that community cooperation remains critical in sustaining peace and security across the Joint Operations Area.
