A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced a fake spiritualist to one year in prison after he used a secretly recorded nude video to blackmail an Indian woman who had sought his help for spiritual healing.
Justice C.N. Nwabulu convicted and sentenced Solomon Odigie Moses, also known as “Dr Solomon,” on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after he pleaded guilty to a charge of cheating and impersonating a spiritual leader.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in a statement signed by the Head, Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, said Moses was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo State, after allegedly obtaining 1,100 US dollars from the victim through a fictitious TikTok account operated in the name of a spiritual leader.
According to the EFCC, the victim, identified as Sharon Kaur, paid the money believing she was receiving spiritual prayers and assistance.
Moses allegedly went further by persuading the woman to undertake a nude spiritual bath, which he recorded live without her consent.
He subsequently used the recording to threaten the woman with public exposure unless she paid him money.
The EFCC said its investigation established that the victim eventually paid 1,100 dollars to the convict to prevent him from releasing the video.
Moses was also accused of receiving and laundering the proceeds through his Zelle payment platform, after which the naira equivalent was transferred into his local bank account.
The charge against him stated that he fraudulently impersonated a spiritual leader through a fictitious TikTok account and obtained the money from the victim under the guise of providing spiritual prayers and assistance.
Following his guilty plea, EFCC prosecution counsel, Maryam Hayatudeen, urged the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.
In his ruling, Justice Nwabulu sentenced Moses to one year imprisonment with an option of a N300,000 fine.
The court also ordered that the 1,100 US dollars recovered as proceeds of crime be forfeited to the victim through the EFCC.
