The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the resumption of its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise for the third and final phase.
The Commission says the exercise will restart on Monday, May 11, 2026, and run through to Friday, July 10, 2026.
In a statement was signed by the Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee Mr Mohammed Kudu Haruna, INEC explains that the previous phase was suspended in April to allow for a clean-up of the voter register, following the display period for claims and objections.
As the final phase begins, eligible Nigerians who have just turned 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration windows, are being urged to take advantage of the opportunity to register.
The Commission is also calling on already registered voters who wish to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, or correct personal details, to visit INEC offices across states and local government areas or log on to its official CVR portal.
INEC further disclosed that the updated voter register will be displayed again from July 23 to July 29, 2026, for public scrutiny, allowing citizens to raise objections and ensure the credibility of the database.
The Commission reassures Nigerians that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a smooth exercise, urging full participation as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s democratic process.
