Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted a shipment of illicit drugs cleverly concealed in snack food packs at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The seizure, made at the airport’s import shed on April 8, involved 2.9 kilograms of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, which arrived from the United States aboard a Delta Airlines flight.
Authorities say two cargo clearing agents Animashaun Moshood Adetunji and Mercy Gabriel Oluwasegun were initially arrested in connection with the consignment.
Further investigation led operatives to the intended recipient, 29-year-old fashion designer, Saheed Adeshina Adegoke, who was apprehended during a follow-up operation at Ogba area of Lagos on April 13.
The agency says the operation highlights the evolving tactics of drug traffickers, who now disguise illegal substances in everyday items to evade detection.
NDLEA officials reaffirm their commitment to tightening surveillance at entry points and dismantling drug networks across the country.
