Just 12 days after his wedding, 25-year-old businessman Lovely Chukwulobelu was arrested by NDLEA operatives at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
Chukwulobelu got married on September 13, 2026, and was intercepted on Thursday, September 25, 2026, at the airport’s departure hall as he prepared to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Portugal via Addis Ababa.
According to the NDLEA, the newlywed had ingested cocaine. He was placed under excretion observation and subsequently excreted 72 wraps of the Class A illicit drug.
Chukwulobelu told NDLEA he had relocated to Portugal in 2023 after operating a car-decoration business in Lagos.
He returned to Nigeria recently for his wedding and reportedly said he resorted to drug trafficking to offset expenses incurred during the ceremony.
