The Ekiti State Government has donated an operational vehicle to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to strengthen the agency’s capacity to combat drug trafficking, illicit cultivation and distribution across the state.

The vehicle was formally handed over to the NDLEA Ekiti State Command on Wednesday, October 14, following its presentation at a government distribution ceremony on September 21.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji said the support was intended to improve the logistics, operational capacity and response time of security agencies in tackling crime and protecting residents.

The NDLEA State Commander, Commander of Narcotics Aina Sunday Rufus, received the vehicle on behalf of the command.

The command’s Media and Advocacy Officer, ASN Ifeoluwa Fabiyi, described the donation as a significant boost to the agency’s anti-drug operations, noting that the state government’s last donation of an operational vehicle to the command was about 15 years ago.

Fabiyi said the gesture also demonstrated the state government’s recognition of the NDLEA’s efforts to curb drug trafficking, dealing, peddling and cannabis cultivation in Ekiti State.

The command expressed appreciation to the state government for its support and reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against illicit drugs.

It said improved operational logistics would help strengthen enforcement efforts and support the broader campaign to protect communities from the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.
