The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 10,600 ampoules of diazepam injection, 6,500 tablets of Molly and 18,000 pills of tramadol in separate operations across Lagos State.
The operations also led to the arrest of several suspects, including a woman whose store at Idumota Market allegedly contained thousands of doses of controlled drugs.
The Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA headquarters, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the seizures and arrests in a statement.
According to the statement, NDLEA operatives raided Idumota Market on Wednesday, October 14, and arrested Elizabeth Chidera Kalu, recovering 10,600 ampoules of diazepam injection and 6,500 tablets of Molly from her store.
In a separate operation the following day, two 35-year-old men, Idowu Daudu and Ahmed Oniyinde, were arrested in the Mushin area with 59.95 kilogrammes and 61.23 kilogrammes of skunk, respectively.
Babafemi further disclosed that NDLEA operatives, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted a truck along Iyana Oba on Thursday, October 15, while it was transporting illicit drug consignments from Trade Fair Market.
The operation resulted in the arrest of the truck’s loading manager, Tajudeen Adeduntan, and his assistant, Azeez Sikiru.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 18,000 pills of tramadol, each containing 250 milligrammes, concealed in cartons labelled as Rambo insecticide.
The seizures underscore the agency’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the distribution of illicit drugs through markets and transportation networks.
