What looked like an ordinary local mortar and a regular backpack turned out to be cleverly concealed packages of cocaine.Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted two consignments of the Class A drug concealed in unusual compartments and packaged for shipment to China and Italy through a logistics company in Lagos.
The seizures, made on Thursday, July 30, 2026, by officers of the NDLEA’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigations (DOGI), included 250 grams of cocaine factory-fitted into the base of a local mortar and packed in a carton for export to China.Another 500 grams of cocaine was discovered hidden in the false bottom of a backpack destined for Italy.
The NDLEA says the interceptions highlight the increasingly sophisticated methods being used to conceal illicit drugs in international shipments.🎥 Watch the video for how the cocaine was concealed and intercepted.
