Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau, has resigned from office.
Gusau announced his decision on Thursday during a press conference at the NFF Glass House in Abuja.
He said he was stepping aside to give other Nigerians the opportunity to contribute to the development of football in the country.
Despite the failure of Nigeria’s men’s and women’s teams to qualify for the World Cups, Gusau maintained that he was leaving the federation in a better position than he found it.
He also revealed that he had advised members of his board to resign, although he said he was not aware of any board member who had stepped down.
Earlier, NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi also announced his resignation while addressing staff at the federation’s secretariat.
