The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, on a nine-count charge bordering on alleged advance fee fraud and money laundering.
The arraignment took place on Monday before Justice Darius Khobo at the Kaduna State High Court, following an amendment to the initial charge.
The ICPC prosecution team separated El-Rufai’s case from that of his co-defendant, Amadu Sule, who was absent in court due to reported health issues.
El-Rufai was then formally docked on nine amended charges linked to alleged violations of multiple laws, including corruption, fraud, and public procurement regulations.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The prosecution has asked the court to fix a trial date and ensure his continued appearance, while the defence pushed for bail on liberal terms.
The court has adjourned ruling on the bail application to April 14, 2026, ordering that El-Rufai remain in ICPC custody until then.
