The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a consequential adjustment to the campaign timeline for the Osun State governorship election, following an earlier shift in the election date.
INEC had moved the election from August 8 to August 15, 2026, as part of its revised timetable for the 2027 general elections.
With the new date, political parties are now required to end their campaigns by midnight on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in compliance with the Electoral Act, which mandates that campaigns must stop 24 hours before election day.
In a statement signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, the Commission urged political parties, candidates, and stakeholders to strictly adhere to the revised schedule.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
