The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, NCDC, has confirmed a single case of COVID-19 in Cross River State.
In a statement issued by the Director-General NCDC , Dr Jide Idris , the agency says the case has been identified, isolated, and is currently receiving treatment in line with national guidelines. The patient is reported to be in stable condition and responding well to care.
The statement added that health authorities in Cross River State, working closely with the NCDC and supporting partners, have activated emergency response measures. These include contact tracing, enhanced surveillance, and strict infection prevention and control protocols.
The NCDC adds that all identified contacts are being closely monitored, with no indication so far of widespread transmission.
The agency notes that the detection of the case reflects an effective and responsive surveillance system for COVID-19 and other respiratory infections across the country.
Members of the public are advised to maintain proper hand and respiratory hygiene, stay at home if feeling unwell, and seek medical attention when necessary.
The NCDC assures Nigerians that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates.
