The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osun State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Anglican Compassion and Development Initiative (ACADI) in the fight against gender-based violence and substance abuse.
The State Commander, Commander Olayinka Joe-Fadile, made the commitment on Wednesday, when he received representatives of ACADI, a non-governmental organisation of the Anglican Communion focused on addressing gender-based violence.
The ACADI delegation, led by its Team Leader, Venerable Oso, commended the NDLEA Osun Command for its longstanding collaboration with the organisation, particularly during the annual Synod of the Diocese of Osun.
Oso expressed appreciation for the Command’s support and called for sustained collaboration to strengthen the initiative.
He also requested that the NDLEA designate a focal person to facilitate coordination and implementation of activities under the project.
Responding, Commander Joe-Fadile thanked the delegation for the visit and expressed appreciation to the Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Osun for recognising the NDLEA as a key partner in the initiative.
The Commander described gender-based violence as an abuse of power and privilege that can affect both men and women, noting that substance abuse could contribute to violent and abusive behaviour.
He stressed the need for collective action to address both drug abuse and gender-based violence in communities.
Joe-Fadile reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting initiatives under the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign and pledged continued collaboration with ACADI and other stakeholders towards building a safer, healthier and drug-free Osun State.
