The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa, retired, has visited two officers injured during a violent attack while on duty in Abuja.
The officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, are currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital after sustaining serious injuries during a raid on a suspected drug hideout in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory on May fifteenth.
During the visit on Monday, General Marwa praised the officers for what he described as exceptional courage and professionalism in the line of duty.
He assured them that the Agency would fully cater for their medical treatment and welfare until they recover completely.
Marwa also vowed that those behind the attack would be tracked down and prosecuted.
According to him, An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished.”
The NDLEA boss further announced incentives for the injured officers, including official letters of commendation and support packages aimed at aiding their recovery.
He also commended the medical teams at the National Hospital and within the NDLEA for their swift response and care.
General Marwa reaffirmed the Agency’s determination to continue the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse across the country, despite threats and resistance from criminal elements.
