The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 1,200 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 603.75 kilograms and valued at ₦1.811 billion.

The agency also arrested a 49-year-old man who allegedly impersonated a senior police officer to evade security checks while transporting illicit drugs across state lines.

The suspect, Innocent Ekpe, was arrested on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, along the Benin-Onitsha Expressway in Asaba, Delta State, with 292.48 kilograms of skunk concealed in his silver Toyota Sienna bus.

According to a statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy NDLEA Headquarters, Femi Babafemi, investigation revealed that Ekpe had allegedly been posing as Godwin Emeka, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, using a forged police identification card to escape scrutiny at checkpoints.

The agency said he had allegedly used the false identity while ferrying illicit drug consignments across state lines.

A 39-year-old alleged accomplice, Nduka Joseph, was also arrested alongside him.

The NDLEA says the arrests and seizures are part of its ongoing operations to disrupt drug trafficking networks and prevent the movement of illicit drugs across the country.
