The Nigerian Army has added more than 3,000 newly trained soldiers to its ranks as part of an ongoing nationwide recruitment drive aimed at strengthening national defence and tackling the country’s security challenges.

At the passing-out parade held at the Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda in Ebonyi State, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, charged the recruits to uphold discipline, loyalty and professionalism as they begin active military service.

He said the recruits underwent rigorous training designed to prepare them for modern warfare and Nigeria’s evolving security environment, urging them to remain committed to the Constitution and carry out their duties with courage and integrity.

The Army Chief noted that the graduation follows similar recruit pass-outs at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria and the newly established training depot in Osogbo, Osun State, describing the expansion as part of efforts to increase the Army’s manpower and operational readiness.

He also described the establishment of the Amasiri-Edda training depot as a strategic investment in the Nigerian Army’s transformation agenda, while commending instructors and support staff for producing combat-ready personnel.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, praised the Federal Government for locating the training depot in the state, saying it has enhanced security, stimulated economic activities and created opportunities for residents and neighbouring communities.

The colourful passing-out parade featured military drills, ceremonial displays and awards for outstanding recruits, highlighting the Army’s continued efforts to build a professional force capable of responding to emerging security threats.
