Residents of Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba and seven other communities in the Federal Capital Territory and neighbouring areas are experiencing power disruption following a fault on the Apo–Karu 132-kilovolt transmission line.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) disclosed this in a notice issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, stating that the transmission line tripped at 5:31 p.m. on Monday, October 12, resulting in a loss of electricity supply to the Karu Transmission Substation.

According to the company, its engineers inspected the affected line and discovered a cut jumper on the yellow phase at Tower T2.

TCN said its maintenance crew was scheduled to carry out urgent repairs on Tuesday to restore the line to service.

The fault has prevented the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) from supplying electricity to customers in Karu, Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba and adjoining communities.

The transmission company apologised to affected electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
