A family of three has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in connection with the trafficking of 48 kilograms of skunk around the Seme border area of Lagos State.
The suspects 52-year-old Nasiru Tijjani and his two 27-year-old sons, Moshood and Salami Tijjani , were arrested during an NDLEA operation at Ashipa, near the Seme border.
According to the NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the arrests form part of a series of operations across four states that resulted in the recovery of more than 125 kilograms of assorted illicit substances, including cannabis, methamphetamine, tramadol and other controlled drugs.
In Kano State, NDLEA operatives raided Hadeija Road on Monday, August 17, arresting 31-year-old Chibuzor Madueke. A total of 98 blocks of skunk weighing 73.3 kilograms were recovered from him.
In Kwara State, a routine patrol along the Ogbomosho-Ilorin Expressway on Friday, August 21, turned into another major drug interception when operatives stopped a Toyota Starlet without a registration number.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 1.325 kilograms of methamphetamine, wrapped in black nylon bags, alongside quantities of cannabis sativa. 22-year-old Muhammadu Usman was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Also in Oyo State, NDLEA operatives arrested 65-year-old Adebayo Kaosarat at Akobo-Ojuirin in Ibadan.
She was found with 4.68 kilograms of assorted illicit substances, including 1.795 kilograms of Scottish Loud, 1.66 kilograms of tramadol, 600 grams of codeine syrup, 125 grams of diazepam and 50 grams of flunitrazepam.
The latest arrests highlight the NDLEA’s continued efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks operating along major transportation routes and border communities across the country.
