The Nigerian Air Force says it has intensified its airpower campaign against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West, with a strengthened air presence in Sokoto State.
The NAF says the move is aimed at boosting aerial surveillance, improving rapid response to emerging threats and providing stronger air support to ground troops conducting joint operations in the region.
According to the Service, the increased air presence will help security forces counter terrorists and bandits who exploit difficult terrain, mobility and concealment to evade ground operations.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, says the NAF will continue to optimise airpower to support joint operations and deny criminal elements the freedom to operate.
Aneke says the objective is to sustain pressure on hostile elements, create opportunities for ground forces to dominate the operational environment and protect communities from attacks.
He also stressed the importance of intelligence-led operations, air-ground coordination and the safety of civilians in ongoing military operations.
The NAF says it will continue working with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to disrupt terrorist and criminal networks, protect lives and property, and restore peace across the North-West.
The Service has also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security authorities to support ongoing operations.
