The Nigerian Air Force has dealt a major blow to terrorist operations in north-west Nigeria, destroying a key hideout linked to notorious kingpin Abasu Aiki in Katsina State.
The precision airstrike, carried out on May 1, targeted a terrorist enclave in the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area. The operation was executed by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 following credible intelligence on renewed terrorist activity.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information NAF Headquarters , Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the location served as a logistics hub and transit base for fighters loyal to Abasu Aiki, who has been linked to repeated attacks on communities and security forces across Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua.
The statement added that the air surveillance identified armed terrorists on motorcycles within the enclave before NAF assets launched a coordinated strike on both the fighters and their support structures.
Consequently, battle Damage Assessment shows several terrorists were neutralised, while the camp was destroyed, triggering explosions and widespread fires.
The Nigerian Air Force says the operation has significantly disrupted terrorist movement and supply chains in the area, reaffirming its commitment to eliminating safe havens and restoring peace across the region.
